It just seems to me there is too much I don’t like it therefore nobody should enjoy it mentality that permeates the entire society. That along with there are a few who abuse it so nobody gets to have it It is a lazy solution to something that should never have been that big a deal to begin with.

I agree that it shouldn’t have been a big deal, but it was.  It resulted in threads in the engineering room.  I would guess it resulted in tickets to CS as well.

I dislike the labeling of so many things as lazy, but they definitely took the quickest, simplest solution.  Frankly, I’d rather they spend CS and development resources on more important issues, so I’m all for them being “lazy” here.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re already planning an update to restore the ability to customize names in a controlled manner.

I counted four players with colour. And one that, with alternating colours, should be way over the character limit. Don’t know how they’re doing it.

But really, just because a few screwed it and a few prefer bland uniformity, it shouldn’t have been taken away. It’s a quite, easy tweak to allow bold, italics and colours while not allowing the extreme crap.

Good. Some terrible customized names out there. Feel free to re-introduce something similar in the future with more reasonable parameters.

You know, why not just allow colorization only and remove everything else? I’m sure that would appease the majority.

So, should their development:
1) Work on a way to provide name colorization
2) Work on new and interesting features to expand and/or broaden gameplay

Yea, I’d rather they spend time on #2 about always.

LOL Yep. Hopefully they have better priorities than worrying about this.

You do realise tweaking settings for colours, bolds and italics, etc, takes extremely little effort, right?

Level of effort doesn’t really matter only the fact that it IS effort.  The benefit here is minimal (‘yaaaay I can colorize my name’).  If skipping that means they finish another feature a day, an hour faster, then it was worth it.

I’m still seeing colorization and a couple of bolded texts, but no more huge letters. Looks like maybe the super/sub script was removed, but the color and bold options are still in?
