Greetings, Captains!

The 1.8.0 server push for Star Trek Timelines includes a significant pass on item balance. We made numerous changes to our mission item drop rates to accomplish a few key goals including:

- Increasing the chance that players will receive high rarity components when completing Elite and Epic missions.
- Improving the variety of mission rewards for some Elite and Epic missions.
- Increasing drop locations for some sought after items.

Below is a detailed list of these changes, for those interested in reading more.

New Drop Locations:
The following items previously had a single drop location. After 1.8.0, there are now more locations to acquire these items in-game:

- Rules of Acquisition   Quality 0
- Romulan Encryption Algorithm Quality 0
- Starfleet Test Cylinder   Quality 0
- Laser Scalpel         Quality 0
- Translation Algorithm   Quality 0
- Hypospray   Quality 0
- Medical Scanner   Quality 0
- Encoded Communique Quality 0
- Quantum Oscillator   Quality 0
- Subcutaneous Transponder Quality 0
- Phaser Type 1   Quality 0
- Combadge   Quality 0
- Tulaberry Wine   Quality 1
- Prime Directive   Quality 1
- Xindi Icon   Quality 1
- Science Experiment   Quality 1

Loot Table Changes:
Numerous changes have been made to loot tables of the following missions, with Elite and Epic missions now having the highest drop rate for higher quality items. These changes also include redistributing loot to increase variety in your mission rewards.

Overall, this should result in the loot tables of Epic-difficulty missions having the highest drop chance for certain higher quality components. Some missions only received a slight tweak, while others had significant changes. We also redistributed some of the components to meet a goal of higher consistency and variety between mission rewards.

Thanks Shan. I really appreciate the detailed notes, and the efforts of the team to improve and balance the game. Was there no change made for basic bloodwine?

Thanks Shan. I love that the first comment is a question about an item not mentioned in the list. LOL.

Thanks, Shan! Can you get us confirmation that the 5-dot drop probability markers reflect these changes? This will be important until the wiki can catch up on new drop rates.

Will the in-game dots rating system reflect these updates?

Catching the wiki up will take much longer so I’m wondering if the in-game signals will be updated 1st.

Are these items in addition to the items the mission already drops or in place of something else?

The odds / pips are recalculated when the server restarts, so with the push (which always includes a server restart) those pips should be updated to reflect the changes.

The pips and sort order for ship missions have seemed inaccurate in the past. For example, all ship missions being at the bottom of the list, even when a ship mission is the best place to farm. An example prior to today would have been Pirate Problems on elite, which had one pip for 3* casings even though empirically it seemed to drop them the best, as backed by many many runs on the wiki.

Will these balance changes also fix the pips for ships?

Nod, any chance someone can take a second pass at the algorithm used for ship missions?  Based on the previous data before the change ship missions has higher drop rates than the rankings of the missions would indicate.

not to be that guy but Nechayev’s uniform still has her name spelled wrong even after this update shut eye

the new Diplo protocols look great though, and more items available at high level missions will definitely => more strategy in using the ad warps!

A good point, and something that was brought up in the past. We may take another pass on the sorting in the future.
