Would you join Starfleet? If so, what class would you specialise in?

If not, what else would you do?

I would join Starfleet and probably become an engineer.

I wonder if Starfleet needs accountants… even if they do, I wouldn’t probably get to be part of starship crew on regular basis shut eye

A socialist society without any form of currency. I doubt Starfleet need accountants…

But the Ferengi. Now they might be looking for a few if you could work your way in to the Ferengi’s ways.

I’d love to be in Starfleet. Specifically, engineering would be awesome. As a software developer in the here and now, I’d be very, very, very deeply interested to check out the software development and programming of the future.

As a physics student… I don’t know, I’d probably join the Daystrom Institute or something like that.

Temporal mechanics for sure, all my my sci-fi Star Trek stories involve temporal mechanics (not time travel, there is a difference - temporal mechanics measures the time stream and predicts the future whereas time travel bleeps it up and gives us lens flares).

As I’m already interested in medical advancements in the present, I’d be interested in that in the future as well. It’s always going to be advancing. Hell, even working in anything medical would intrigue me. I don’t think I’d take for granted the wonders of their technology and may even be interested in being a medic of some kind myself, maybe even specializing my knowledge (if not my practice) in more basic medical techniques from before certain technologies were discovered. It’d be a perfect skill for being an explorer where you have no idea of what circumstances you’ll be faced with on a planet’s surface.

I would prefer, if I were in a position like that, to be on a ship with a limited number of people - all professionals. The concept of dealing with patients is one of the biggest things keeping me from the field, heh.

I’m with you my friend…

Bring on that VIP Pool-side at the Hard Rock in Las Vegas holodeck program…

...“yes, Beyonce…I would like some lotion on my back…(cell phone rings)...Shakira?...sorry baby, gonna take a nap… three times before noon was pushin’ it…see you at 2…”

...it’s that… or Captain of a starship…

Kirk would be proud either way…

Since he did both, why pick only one? wink

I wonder if Starfleet has musicians, like other forms of military in the present.

Data plays the violin in a small orchestral group on the Enterprise-D so I’d say yes they do.

I remember that! :D (not a lot of memories, lol)
I wonder if there is a separate billet for musicians, instead of a side thing, as in Data’s case smile

What if you were a mediocre musician?

It was your passion… but you just weren’t that good?

I guess it would apply to anything…

In the Star Trek mentality… anyone who sucks at what they love to do…would get by just fine… no worries… they would be encouraged to keep on sucking at what they do.

...(sounds like 21st century politicians)
