This subject may have been discussed already but I lack the patience to dig for the answer.

Do alliance points have an effect on AvA performance positively or negatively?

Is there any reason not to do as many Alliance challenges as possible to rise in rank gaining AP between AvA’s?

Please feel free to explain like I’m an idiot.

The Alliance points don’t have any effect on AVA. However many of the alliance challenges require items used in the building of camps. So a lot of leaders will not start challenges that require those. In my alliance we run only Fire at the Arsenal and the AVA spoil challenges. Anything else feels like a waste of crafted items.

They are quite useful for powerleveling with these challenges. You get more levels my having all challenges open with only small hits allowed. Members need to keep their int below 100 which is easy as int is useless stat.

Intrigue is hardly a useless stat. It’s incredibly important for a lot of players.

Intrigue is only useless if you like fighting blind.
Any leader will tell you that their spies are invaluable.
A large number of players specialise in battle and almost everyone has reasonable trade stats - that makes it easier for my thieves and saboteurs as there is so much less resistance

That most people specialize in battle/trade is exactly why they could dumb it because its useless for them. Alliance needs only several spies and usually there are too many int players.

Sab is weak as it gives alliance less vp than bribe followed by battle. You have problem that you want to get camps silver to zero which means no vp from sab. Swindle/steal are useful to regain camp but they are equal and trade focus gives you bribe.

These factors make int not worth defending as it does less damage than being hit with bribe with smaller win chance.
